We are now live with KVM but Ryzen only. We will hopefully deploy dedicated Xeon KVM capacity to our datacenters in the near future so we can enable it for Xeon. For now it's Ryzen-only. Feel free to give it a spin and let us know if you have any issues

Arni from Webdock: I checked the option. Within the Dashboard after log in, the selector works correctly, however the prices may not fit since the +1.95 € for KVM do not get applied, the prices in the profile table stay the same.
And the normal homepage seems to have some problems as well:
- The first table in the "palebluebg hardware-class-switcher" div doesn't have the KVM option.
- The second table in the "container padout" div does have it, however I can still select Xeon after enabling KVM, so the Xeon button does not get disabled and greyed out like in the Dashboard, see picture attached.

Epsilon PS _ Paul Schiffer: Hello. Yes this limiting to Ryzen was built today rather quickly - we will get this bug fixed
The KVM surcharge is listed on the next "confirm" screen you see. We are not updating the profile prices in the configurator, as you've noticed. So that's expected behavior - but maybe confusing? :)

Arni from Webdock: At least it is confusing to me. Also, the "+" before the 1.95 € is a bit hard to read, especially on my QHD and UHD monitors, since it is rotated 45°, so it may look like a *.

Fixed :) Oh, and as we don't update the profile price table when selecting KVM, there was no need to include that in the price overview we felt.
We are getting a new landing page soon and will be streamlining all this, so this is just a temporary situation.

Epsilon PS _ Paul Schiffer: Noted. We will see what we can do to reduce confusion. The surcharge doesn't really affect your profile price per-se and that's one of the reasons we created the new Confirm view: To make sure users understand charges and what they are buying.

I saw the option yesterday...but not available anymore why

EJES GIST: Read the newest two comments from Arni, they explain everything.

Epsilon PS _ Paul Schiffer: That's correct. We encountered some serious issues after we went live and started methodically testing our entire infrastructure with KVM. The issues were so bad that we had to rethink our approach. We will be enabling KVM - but only for Ryzen - within the next few days and see how that goes.

We soft-launched this today but will not send a newsletter/announcement until monday, as despite having done ooodles of testing, this is easily the biggest single update of the platform ever made, and we have some minor issues we are working on still and still doing lots of testing in our live environment. If you try this out in the next few days, let us know if you see something break :)

Update here: We encountered some fatal issues on some of our Xeon hosts and instead of trying to fix those, we disabled KVM again for now. We plan on re-enabling KVM support but limit it to our Ryzen instances where we have more uniform environments and much better system resources. We will most likely enable KVM on our Xeon platform once we have acquired and deployed dedicated systems for this purpose. Essentially we want to keep KVM and LXD servers seperated.

Just for simplicities sake, can someone explain to me in which scenario or use case I would/should prefer a native KVM virtualization instead of an LXD one?

This is the best feature so far...

Arni from Webdock: This is must needed, thanks :)
EJES GIST
Arni from Webdock: when will this feature be live and can we migrate from current VPs to this feature?
A
Arni from Webdock
EJES GIST: we hope to go live in a week or two. We are just sorting out the last UI details and testing at the moment.
Unfortunately LXD images are incompatible with KVM images so there will be no mixing and matching. Once you've picked virtualization for your VPS you are stuck with that machine type.
So, manual transfer of files and data is required in this case. Nothing we can do about this without resorting to rather complicated voodoo magic which will probably break in most cases anyway :(

Arni from Webdock: 8 days to go or it will fall sooner ???

EJES GIST: We are working on this as quickly as we can, but there is a lot of testing and UI work still to be done. All the mechanics are done, so it's just a matter of polish and making sure people don't get into weird error scenarios. Most likely we are looking at sometime next week for go-live at this point.

Arni from Webdock: is already weekend.. any good news

EJES GIST: :) We encountered a range of issues during our intensive testing this week which caused us to have to rebuild and rethink a few things. We believe all those issues are solved now and are continuing to test, and if nothing further "bad" comes up, we will go live with this tuesday next week (the 18th) - but please don't take that as a promise - this is just our current target.
