Datacenter in Brussels

Hello, It would be great if you got a datacenter in Brussels, the middle of Europe. All other providers have vps in Amsterdam, Paris, Londen, but none are in Brussels. Grtz Bart

Would we, as the users, notice a distinct improvement from a DC in Brussels, contrary to Denmark or Finland?

Epsilon PS _ Paul Schiffer: The closer the DC to the users the better. So yes for people living in Belgium, France, Spain, … it would be faster. That's why other providers have DC's all over the world :)

Bart Ronsmans: That much is obvious. But you are only partly correct. Physical distance to a datacenter doesn't matter, its the network in between that decides the service quality. A datacenter may be standing right next to your house, but if it has 25 hops between you and it, thats not good. On the other hand, a low-latency connection with 5 hops to a DC in Sweden is great. And that is what I was eluding to in my first question, would we notice a better service if a DC was built in Belgium instead of the new Denmark location?

Epsilon PS _ Paul Schiffer: Chiming in here. Paul you are correct we want to move away from co-location here in Europe. The location is often largely, as you say, a fictitious indicator of latency and number of hops. To begin with we don't imagine we will have the best connectivity to all countries in Europe as we are starting small, but our aim is to add more and more peering and interconnects over the next couple of years so that when all is said and done we will have tremendously good connectivity to all EU countries. Bart Ronsmans we will likely be able to get almost as good latency as if we were locally in Brussels (less a hop or two and the time it takes the speed of light to go from here to there)
